Open Question: Help! Got lawnmower started - but now blades won't drop.? I have an old Wheelhorse Toro riding lawn mower. Took it to the shop last month. Great condition they say. Wouldn't start. Replaced battery. Got new fuses. Finally cleaned connection to starter thing. Got it going. Now I flip the blade switch. Nothing. It rides all around but no cutting. Took three days to get started. Grass is getting higher as I type. The wheels lower with a switch kind of like a light switch. They are set at the correct height per the level on the side. Just won't drop and spin. Open Question: What's wrong with my lawn mower? It's a Craftsman 4.2 hp. Up till now - no problems. It always started with one pull of the cord. A week ago the lonawn mower quit. I had not hit anything. Now the cord is hard to pull and sometimes snaps back too quickly. I took off the cord housing. The cord on it's own pulls easily. The blade is clear of all debris. When turning the thing underneath the cord housing (don't worry - I disconnected the spark plug) this seems to turn hard and it sticks at one point. Can this be oiled? I tried oiling the shaft for the blade but that didn't do much. Yes, there is sufficient oil in the crankcase. Spark plug is good. The problem seems to be that the flywheel is turning hard and at one point it sticks. Open Question: does anybody know where i can get a mower deck any condition forparts to fit a 733 bolens lawn tractor? it is a three blade deck i need the bearing housing that bolts to deck that holds the blades Resolved Question: Push lawn mower sputtering then engine shutting off? I just bought a lawn mower at a garage sale. It was working fine till I tipped it over to look underneath it at the blades. At first it was spitting white smoke out the exhaust. Now it is sputtering, smoke still coming out not necessarily white, then the engine will stop. What is wrong with it and how do I fix it? Voting Question: Push lawn mower crank cord won't pull? Mower worked fine during last use. Now, when I pull the crank cord, the cord will not budge. There is not any obstruction in the blade area. Curiously, if you remove the sparkplug, the crank cord pulls freely as it should. Putting teh sparkplug back in causes the crank cord to freeze. What does this mean and how do I fix it? PLEASE HELP!!? I have a MTD 12.5 hp riding lawnmower, fairly new. I bought new blades for it but the previous ones were so tightly ceased on that I couldnt get i off. So I decided to just sharpen my old blades that were on it. The blade wouldnt stop moving while I was sharpening it so I stuck a screw driver in this whole in the deck to stop it from spinning. Once I started sharpening it I heard a ping and a spring popped out. I cant figure out where this spring went. Now when I put the deck to go down and start the blades the blades dont work. I think it has to do with the belt tension because the belt is very loose and that is probobly why the blade isnt moving. The only problem is that i dont no where the spring went. Any suggestions???? Basically what happened is there is a steel piece up above the blade that broke off and now the self propelled mower won't engage, you can push it and it works but it will not go by itself.
